Saatchi & Saatchi Sydney

I am soooooo happy today. I feel very much appreciated by an award winning Aussie creative and my fellow creatives. I can say to myself, work well done Joanie! Road to Cannes is long and narrow but who knows...

Last October 2007, I went to Australia to have my month long vacation. I was shuffling from one area to another. I explored Sydney in short. While I was walking around the area of Circular Quay, I decided to cross the Harbor bridge going to Kirribili by simply walking. But before reaching the bridge I passed by the road called The Rocks. I was surprised to see the sign of Saatchi & Saatchi. Who cares if I do not know anyone from there, I barged in and sneaked into the Saatchi office. Told my self that day, I have this feeling that I'll be part of this company. Since Saatchi was my Dad's first ad agency, I always had this yearning that one day I will work their too. (By the way, my Dad was also an Art Director)

Came October 2008, exactly a year later after I said to myself that I'll be part of this company–My new office Ace Saatchi & Saatchi Manila. Breaking new grounds for me and giving possibilities to all my dreams. Starting today it's time to prove the world more that I am not just an Art Director–because I do believe Art Directors are not just executers but idea makers, can do a good script and probably a good presentor.

Saatchi & Saatchi Sydney.

Sneaking inside Saatchi & Saatchi Sydney.

So who says dreams cannot come true? I say, dreams do happen. They existed for us to make it real. I always been a dreamer not a wanderer. I often get lost but I do find the way how to get to the right direction. So I believe none of us are losers. We do have our own trail to follow. We just have to keep in mind that whatever we do and regardless of what angle in life, we should learn not to step on anyone or hurt someone. Because I believe if you do something and on the other hand you hurt people, you will never be happy and will never succeed in life.

So cheers to Lions!

Valentine's Project

Valentine's Day passed by and I didn't receive any of the usual stuff most people get. But I was able to unload what's inside my heart and it was worth it than anything. It was also a beautiful valentine's day to catch sunrise along with the hot air balloons flying in Clarkfield Pampanga plus the long drive from Manila to Angeles and vice versa. Even though the special day is over, Joanie is not yet over celebrating it! I have to pursue this special valentine's project I supposed to finish last weekend. I am doing a special video about the food I will cook for valentine's day and I have to put yada yada yada on it. I told myself I have to inject my being creative not just on food but also on this video I'll be doing. I am done with my concept board and storyboard for this project. Gotta run to the grocery for the ingredients I'll need. I will be doing the Art Direction, Photography, Copywriting (will really try), Video Editing & Cooking. I'll be using my now favorite song from Beatles, which is "Because" for the scoring. Hope I'll get this project done soon and be able to submit it on time for the contest.

Please do wish me luck. :-)

Food for the HEART!

Since heart day is just around the corner , I wanted to share to all of you what I have just learned ...

"Love is not about finding the right person, but creating a right relationship. It's not about how much love you have in the beginning but how much love you build 'til the end"

Hope you guys are with me as I ponder on this note... :-)

My Food Blog on Jamie Oliver's Website

February 6 would always be a salient day for me. So to make it special, I decided to write my first blog on Jamie Oliver's website. From now on the food that I'll be posting here in my blog can also be found in Jamie's website. I am just so happy seeing my food on his website! So this weekend I am very excited to cook my very own special Lemon-Cinnamon-Pastillas so I can have a new recipe to blog. Which reminds me, I have to make 100 pieces for Bogey Bernardo and Angelo Suarez who both ordered last Christmas. I owe them. I'll definitely take photos of it!

Happy weekend!

AMERICA: A state of Dream

For somebody who aspires to travel America, there's no better good news than getting a 10 years visa grant! And that made my friend wear a huge smile on his face. While he was sharing me his blithesome moment, I suddenly pull the thread inside my brain. I just told my self, WHY NOT?! Uhu... It's time to get that plan in the parking lot. We all know that United States is currently down in terms of their economy, so giving 10 years visa to people who are very qualified to travel as tourist will be granted easily. So it's time for me to work on my plan. I want to go to US but I am not sure yet when is the best time to push thru with this dream. Now I think the universe is conspiring for me to get a US visa this early. For whatever reason, I should grab this chance now. It's better you're ready with a weapon when the war comes. So starting tomorrow I'll be working on the things I need to accomplish. :-)

We all know every person in this planet has this AMERICAN DREAM inside their heart. To step on the land of milk and honey is one big leap to fulfill their dreams. Probably I also have the same dream inside my heart. The only difference is, I don't want to live there. For me, American Dream means something else. It's a happy accident and fortunate discoveries. It's a sublime plan. My first stop would be, New York! I just really want to taste the frozen hot chocolate at Serendipity 3 store and who knows Jonathan Trager might barge in and tell me I am your fatum. Or if fate would allow me, I'd like to chill at Brasserie de Las Halles with Bourdain. Didn't catch him when he was here. I also want to prove to Chicago that NY pizza's are better most especially the Mariella's. The MOMA, SOHO, Brooklyn, Yonkers, Arni, Pauie & Arlene are the good things I rave about NY. And lastly, one big fact: every true-blue artist should not miss to visit NY at least once in their lifetime. I'd find out soon why.

But America is not just New York, and I have few interesting motives why I want to go to this country. I want to find out if I can conquer my fear and have my skin as an art canvass by visiting the Miami ink. How about witnessing the Mardi Gras in New Orleans? So I can compare which one is better, the one in Sydney with Gay and Lesbos or their own version. After the Mardi Gras parade, I'll be marching to visit and meet peeps from the world's biggest art locker room in Hollywood, Deviantart! Hollywood for me is not meeting the stars but for "Meet ups - Meet ups." (EB for art) And lastly when I say California there's my good friends Jinx and Carlito!

Well there goes my American Dream. Pretty exciting to look forward in the days of my life to come. So everyone in this planet, never doubt about your dreams. They existed for us to make it happen. I never doubted myself I can make things happen. I can change the landscape of something that is totally bare. And to those people who doubted me and The Artsit Chef, I won't bring with me those hurtful doubts that you casted upon me.

Get well soon and Long live America!
